Fly

A Malaysian, a Colombian, a Spanish, a French and an American talking about aeroplanes over a couple of beers. What a good example of what brought us all here.

Tonight, I saw a lot of good things and heard a lot of stories from people who came from different parts of the globe and it really opened my eyes as to why they have the level of understanding and knowledge that they do. They commit to dollars and man hours to build their own aircraft from scratch during ages where most of us would be concerned about what clothes to wear or who is more popular. And whats more fascinating is to undertand that these are not just the efforts of a few teenagers but a collective effort between them, teachers from their school, and even their family. And to see how involved they are in helping each other achieve that goal is a beauty on its own.

Back home, the mentality is very different. The attitude is, if it is not going to help you in your grades, don't bother wasting your time. And, to even think about building a plane or even something half as technical would definitely be met with stares and resistance. And even to suggest that you want to read Aero Engineering as a degree would be met with a whole lot of talking down, scolding and a whole lecture about how it is not very good for your future. I know, I was there before and I have heard and witnessed many sad stories about how parents have stopped their kids from achieving their dreams. And that is something I really do not understand.

But to be here in the company of so many talented young individuals and to be able to talk for hours is really an experience on its own.

Why

I hear the sound of guitars everywhere but from my own hands. This is supposed to be America, the land of guitars. So why is it so difficult to find a guitar store? And the only one there is, is rubbish and I don't know where it is. Why?

I was at Orlando today. John Mayer will be playing at Orlando tonight. And I'm not going to watch because of the lack of transportation and even if I can get one, it will be expensive. Why?

Someone asked me,"John Mayer, who is that?" Why?

I went to the beach today but the sun didn't shine. Why?

Grrr...

Conspiracy

I got a theory. Participants in Idol competitions are paid money to appear on TV. And they already know the result even before they audition. Or, they are just idiots who crave for attention and had not have enough of their behinds kicked around at school and now need the whole country to kick it.Here's why.

Mamak 101

And so he returned to his dorm, from lunch at Propellers cafe where they serve the best burgers on campus and decided to type www.youtube.com into his browser. But he had no clue as to what to search for. So, he typed in the first thing that came to his mind..."Mamak" and he got this... Enjoy...

College Theories

Theory No.1: If you're kid isn't domesticated and you so desperately want them to get domesticated, send them to college. At least they'd learn how to iron their own shirts without burning anything. Its either that or they'll have to walk around in crumpled shirts.

Theory No.4: If you don't like doing the laundry, no problem. One pair of jeans will get you through the whole semester.

Theory No.3: If you don't like toilet papers and the college doesn't provide any form of hose system, build your own. Even if it means having to go down 2 floors just to get business done. Won't cost more than 4 dollars for 10 feet of garden hose. Go to Walmart.

Theory No.4: If a lecturer flirts more than she teaches, smokes in public and has a body like "wow" , may god have mercy on you. Chances are, grading will be even tougher. So it's every guy for himself. If you're female...you'll know what to do.

Theory No.5: When you're thousands of miles away from home, money is everything. Accept it.

Yes, I'm bored.

But seriously, its fascinating to note how our survival skills come alive when we are faced with circumstances we don't like.

Into The Sunset

This is one goodbye, I know will last forever. Nothing will ever bring us together again. This is my last one to you. Though it pains me to know that I will never see you again, deep down I have to accept the fact that time on earth is never eternal. I hope that you will be happy, home from where you came from. All I can do is to spread the memory of how good a friend you were to me. Rest in peace my dear friend, rest in peace.
