Matthew: Problem settle already.
Mom: Make sure you shave, don't carry other people's bags, don't drink liquor but drink orange juice. These places are in the center of the drug trade, make sure you go and come back safely.

Drugs
Study groups....aren't always study. When you mix a Korean American, a Puerto Rican, and a Malaysian, the topic is not going to be about dynamics or solids or anything like that. It is going to start out with talking about Puerto Rico, and its lifestyle and lovely beaches. Then, their famous Bacardi. Then, we're going to listen to Ramon speak about growing up in Puerto Rico, and what it was like over there. The drugs, and everything. We spent a whole hour talking bout drugs, drug dealers, people who we knew who were in the drug business, those who got busted, the law and kinds of things like that. Imagine walking your dog and seeing dead bodies floating in the bay, and walking back home and seeing drug dealers shove AK-47's into their car trunks, being friends with the children of drug dealers. The stories were interesting, but the endings often weren't. But that's life. Live high, fall even harder.

No Fear
Right now I just feel like singing out to some of the music that I'm listening to. For whatever reason, I enjoy songs with deep and thought provoking lyrics, because every now and then I'll somehow find a line or two, or sometimes an entire song that I can relate to, and singing them out is like therapy. But you know what's stopping me? My sleeping roommate. *Throws imaginary chocolates at him* Nolah, he's been a great roommate so far. He's the one who keeps the place neat and organized. I'm the complete opposite.
Anyways, my week of lazing around will come o an end in 10 minutes time. Once that happens, I'm going to need cans after cans of AMP Energy and No Fear to keep me tuned on. No Fear has the most kick-arse /rock and roll can I've ever seen. Heck, even their website plays some super kick-arse music. I like! Nice eh? But then again, knowing what these things are probably made of, I'd probably end up with some form of incurable disease after I consume that many cans... But seriously, if you need to stay awake, this is a lot more potent than coffee. Trust me. I couldn't sleep till 3 am, and I only drank it at around 2 pm?
Moving on, it's back =D... I hope.

When have someone who has had a great influence over your life, has been the best friend anyone could ever ask for, to have been through so much, it feels bad to miss his coming of age. I won't miss the next one, that's for sure!

Of Heaven and Hell
I wanted to post up my Nascar pictures today, but as usual, the slow internet speed here didn't help much. So instead, to kill time, I looked through Amazon. I love doing online window shopping. It lets me discover many things and deals I never knew existed. This is different from going to an actual shopping mall in a sense that shopping malls these days are predictable, and uninspiring. Whatever I can find in one mall, I could probably find it in the next one. Secondly, it feels as if when mall planners planned malls, they forgot about people like me. People who don't go to malls to check fashion stores out or just to waste time. I don't have anything against malls, but I'm just not too big a fan of it. I enjoy malls that display something different. Something more of an alternative, non commercialized culture. I prefer seeing independent retailers, creators, artists and businesses based on a passion for a product rather than the collective need to just make money however they want by a board of directors, who while doing that curtail the many creative juices of their designers and retailers. And while doing that, create a culture so washed with commercialization that nothing is unique anymore. Everything is just like what the other person is doing, but only with a different brand. Online shopping is very much difference in this sense because I get to see stuff I know will never be in malls. Stuff I know that will never be put in the display cabinets simply because they are deemed to be vulgar and undesirable in building character and society. Afterall, who would want their kids to pick books up that have the words cocaine, drugs, backstage orgies and things like that? Realities of a culture that society often scorns at without even trying to understand its surface, what more its depths? Who in their right mind would want to buy an apparel from a designer who dresses in torn jeans, a faded shirt and has the smell of nicotine on him or a tattoo on her arms? One who designs based on inspiration rather than a need to please? Most would only choose to buy apparels from a store whose facade places pictures of naked celebrities. Who would want to buy items with alternative messages splashed all over them? Who would want to listen to music made by artists that speak of the everyday realities of life? Those who have lived, rather than played puppets to a hypocritical playwright? Exactly. Not many. But the weird thing is that this same society that scorns upon the alternative culture apparently loves to have their radios play music made by artists and executives that encourage teenage sex, female bashing and excess materialism, and still call it clean.
They often speak of a broken economy, a broken societal system, and if there is anything to blame, it is commercialization. A culture that creates and breeds the need for excesses, even if they are more than a person can afford or handle. Creating credit more than one can afford to service. Drawing from their future to feed their present. It may bloom initially, but it will one day, eventually fall under its own weight, crumbling upon its weak foundations. However, it is the ones who always seem to survive are the so called rats and pests that society has tried to poison into extinction. Street artists, independent musicians, people with alternative but non extremist ideas. Those who have gotten used to not needing much to survive.
Anyways, it's getting pretty late now, and I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. I better get to bed.
Your hell just might just be someone else's heaven.

Daytona 500
I have so much to say right now, but I'm extremely tired after an eventful day at the racetrack that I don't feel like typing much. Anyways, the race was absolutely amazing. The way they were racing, the crashes, the atmosphere and everything else was just awesome. To bad the rain came and the race had to be stopped at lap 152, about 48 laps from the end. I didn't know that Nascar didn't race in the rain. I have loads of pictures to share, but they are not with me right now. My stuff are in my friend's dorm room. However, I did feel a little disappointed because Montoya only managed to finish 14th out of 43 cars. He did get all the way up to third during the first few laps, and pit stop made him steadily fall down the order. In the early laps, I was cheering him on like crazy. My camera was always pointed at his no.42 Chevrolet. I felt like I was the only one there who supported Montoya. The rest of the crowd were backing regular powerhouses like Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and the like.
Anyways, I'm really very sleepy right now. I'll talk about it another time.

Calm Before The Storm
One really can tell when it is motorsports weekend here in Daytona. All of a sudden, the airport will be packed with planes, the sound of stock cars decimating the asphalt can be heard, helicopters, airships and advertising planes will be in the air, and fighter jets will be doing a few runs every now and then. But what gives it away most, is the atmosphere. I can't help but get that sort of feeling that something big is about to happen and it is as if the whole town has gone Nascar crazy.
But as for me, I had a good time taking photographs of the planes.

13 Haribulan Februari
Friday the 13th, really was a Friday the 13th for me. Whatever bad luck could have happened, did happen. Imagine working like a dog for a whole week only to open the paper and scream to yourself "What the fuck is this?" No, I'm not pissed. I'm just annoyed. But shit happens every now and then. We got to learn to deal with it and see what we can do to minimize the damage.
Anyways, the weekends are here. I can't wait to attend the Daytona 500 race. Before this, all I used to do was to play those Daytona video games. But now, I'll actually be going to the race track, and seeing the real cars doing 500 miles of good racing. My pick for the weekend? Juan Pablo Montoya. Honestly, I don't know much about Nascar, but personally, he being an ex-Formula 1 driver, I think that Montoya is the most developed driver of them all. Plus, I like his attitude.

Fight
Preparing for a gun fight, but getting attacked by a sword wielding ninja instead. You don't know when or how he is going to attack. All you know is that he is coming for you, and he wants to kill you. That's what it's like living right now. But that's life, a constant challenge. In order to win, one has no choice but to keep pushing and always being one step ahead of the competition. Afterall, the harder the victory, the sweeter it tastes. Right?
Anyways, I've been having an urge to write a song. I know what I want it to sound like. But, I haven't the faintest idea on what to write. I have all these bursts of verses, choruses and tunes coming to my head, but they all happen at times where I haven't anything to write them down on. Last night, I had a song in my mind, complete with music and words while taking a hot shower. It was about something I still feel strongly about, eventhough it happened a long time ago. Not too long ago, I dreamt up a really heavy tune, but I woke up just as it ended. And now, as Oasis is playing in the background, I'm suddenly getting a flurry of thoughts.

Malaysia & HRW
I got this article ofF this website.
Malaysia should face a grilling over the abuse of migrants and the jailing of political opponents when its seat on the UN Human Rights Council is reviewed this week, a watchdog said Tuesday.
"A long, hard look at Malaysia's performance on fundamental human rights, including its detention practices, is in order," said Elaine Pearson, deputy Asia director at New York-based Human Rights Watch.
"Countries should call Malaysia to account for failing to address abuses against migrants and refugees, and for its continuing use of preventative detention," she said in a statement.
Civil society groups have seized on Wednesday's review in Geneva, which is mandatory every four years, to highlight Malaysia's alleged abuses and its draconian colonial-era internal security laws.
The Internal Security Act (ISA) provides for detention without trial for renewable two-year periods, and has been used against suspected terrorists as well as government critics.
"Malaysia uses the pretext of national security to invoke the ISA and lock up critics and political opponents indefinitely," Pearson said.
"UN member states should challenge Malaysia to repeal the ISA, and either to charge or to free all those currently detained under its provisions."
Human Rights Watch said it noted that last year the nation's top blogger, a newspaper journalist and an opposition politician were all detained under the law and later released.
And in 2007 five leaders of an ethnic Indian rights group were arrested after organising unprecedented anti-government protests. They remain in detention in a camp in Malaysia's north.
Malaysia is also accused of mistreating the millions of foreign workers who live here, as well as asylum seekers, including thousands from military-run Myanmar.
Human Rights Watch singled out an infamous government-backed volunteer force known as RELA which it accused of beating, threatening and extorting money from migrants and asylum-seekers.

News
So ends another weekend.
I've been doing some reading on the latest going-ons in Malaysia, and it doesn't sound very good at all. The whole Perak thing is simply a fiasco. If it was up to me, I'd have an election to settle the dispute once an for all.
Malaysia rocks lah.

Orbitz
You know what would make me money? A travel website that is user friendly and does not prepackage flights thus giving a customer the lack of flexibility and options. Most of the flights are often scheduled in either extremely tight or loose timings, that it is hard to find the right one. For example, for an international layover at the first point of entry into a country, security processes demand at least 2 hours for screening and checking in, while accounting for possible delays. However, websites like Orbitz only give us about an hour or so in between connecting flights. How on earth do they expect 1 hour to be enough international layovers?
Secondly, what these websites do is that they try to make a route as expensive as possible by having multi stopovers, which is inefficient. For example, US Airways flies direct from Orlando to Los Angeles. However, Orbitz often subscribes a route which starts from Orlando to Charlotte, then Charlotte to Los Angeles, which not only increases travel time, but also costs.
So, if we can come up with a website that allows a customer to pick their flights as per the proper timing, more user friendly services, offer them tickets at cheaper prices, we can definitely make money.

Keep Em' Rollin!
The good thing about Thursday evenings is that there's always a free movie. I had been doing some studying for a good part of the day today, and at around 7, I decided that I needed to take a break to grab some dinner, and then get back to doing more work. But as soon as I had sat down to eat, I saw Jackson grabbing his dinner, and so he sat with me and we had dinner. Although I have been here for months, I have never had dinner at the student center. Never felt like it. But today was different because I had loads of studying to do and I didn't want to have to walk all the way back in the cold, and grab dinner at the student village. But anyway, as we were talking, he mentioned that he was going to watch a movie at the auditorium, before heading back home. I inquired further, and found out that there was going to be a comedy called Role Models. And by the description he gave, it sounded like it was going to be a whole lot of fun. And by that time, I was already dead tired, and so on impulse, I decided to join him. And it was a good decision. The movie was extremely funny. It was about these two guys getting sent to do community service in exchange for jail time, for a host of charges. All I can say is, American comedy, no censorship, a black kid with an overtly sexual mind, a white guy who loves KISS, a miserable effer who got dumped by his girlfriend, a medieval battle scene, and a heck load of funnies made for one heck of a good movie. I doubt it's playing in cinemas, but if you ever get the chance, do watch it. It's bloody awesome! And definitely a good way of taking my mind of learning how to decipher the whole universe by looking at light emitted by distant objects! But then again, after all these astronomy lessons and readings, I can now look up at the sky and tell what's going on, debate with myself and try to predict the time the moon rose and the time it would set, the locations of planets relative to the sun and earth, debating where what I see is a star or a planet, and just looking up and just marvel at everything I see, trying to figure out what else I will soon learn.
Anyways, it's getting a little late right now, I have to go to bed and see what tomorrow brings me. I hope it's good.
Keep em rollin!

Chilled
Old Jokes
I was going through my email inbox, and I found this.
1)
An elderly gentleman had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%.
The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, 'Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again.'
The gentleman replied, 'Oh, I haven't told my family yet. I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three times!'
2)
Two elderly gentlemen from a retirement center were sitting on a bench under a tree when one turns to the other and says: 'Slim, I'm 83 years old now and I'm just full of aches and pains. I know you're about my age. How do you feel?'Slim says, 'I feel just like a newborn baby.' 'Really!? Like a newborn baby!?'
'Yep. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants.'
3)
An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.'The other man said, 'What is the name of the restaurant?'
The first man thought and thought and finally said, 'What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know... the one that's red and has thorns?''Do you mean a rose?''Yes, that's the one,' replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, 'Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?'
4)
Hospital regulations require a wheel chair for patients being discharged. However, while working as a student nurse, I found one elderly gentleman already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase at his feet, who insisted he didn't need my help to leave the hospital. After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him to the elevator. On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him.
'I don't know,' he said. 'She's still upstairs in the bathroom changing out of her hospital gown.'
5)
A couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things. During a checkup, the doctor tells them that they're physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair. 'Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?' he asks.
'Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?'
'Sure.'
'Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?' she asks.
'No, I can remember it.'
'Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so's not to forget it?'
He says, 'I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries.'
'I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down?' she asks.
Irritated, he says, 'I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!'
Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes,
The old man returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. She stares at the plate for a moment.
'Where's my toast?'
6)
A senior citizen said to his eighty-year old buddy:
'So I hear you're getting married?'
'Yep!'
'Do I know her?'
'Nope!'
'This woman, is she good looking?'
'Not really.'
'Is she a good cook?'
'Naw, she can't cook too well.'
'Does she have lots of money?'
'Nope! Poor as a church mouse.'
'Well, then, is she good in bed?'
'I don't know.'
'Why in the world do you want to marry her then?'
'Because she can still drive!'
7)
Three old guys are out walking.
First one says, 'Windy, isn't it?'
Second one says, 'No, it's Thursday!'
Third one says, 'So am I. Let's go get a beer.'
7)
A man was telling his neighbor, 'I just bought a new hearing aid. It cost me four thousand dollars, but it's state of the art. It's perfect.'
'Really,' answered the neighbor. 'What kind is it?'
'Twelve-thirty.'
8)
Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical. A few days later, the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.
A couple of days later, the doctor spoke to Morris and said, 'You're really doing great, aren't you?' Morris replied, 'Just doing what you said, Doc: 'Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.''The doctor said, 'I didn't say that. I said, 'You've got a heart murmur; be careful.

Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
(To do this, go to "notes" under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish.)
Ok, since this is the 4th person tagging me, (Humpty Dumpty, Christina, Caren and Sara), I'd better get down to doing it.
1. I was a very naughty kid. I loved lighting things up on fire, damaging cars, furniture, making my Indonesian mid cry and pushing friends into drains.
2. I've shoplifted before. Three times to be exact. I once stole a bottle of Pepsi from 7-11, in which my friend got caught for it. The second was the shop beside 7-11 where I stole an airplane DIY kit, and the third, was somewhere in Taipan.
3. I failed my physics, chemistry, biology and add math paper for a good year and a half, in high school. I did finally manage to get through on B's and c for biology.
4. I have sat in an F-18 before.
5. I've always wanted to be a marine or an air force pilot.
6. I've met half the members of Linkin Park. I still think that they are among the best bands in the world.
7. I have a sizable backstreet boys CD collection back home.
8. I used to be very religious. But now, I've turned a complete 180 degrees.
9. I got caning almost everyday in elementary school. Two long rulers broke because of me. I used to get sent out quite a lot too, for not doing my homework.
10. My favorite country is Switzerland... for its beauty and low tax rates.
11. My dream home would be by the beach, on an island far enough to be isolated from the hustle and pollution of the city, but near enough to be able to shuttle back and forth with a helicopter. And it must also have an awesome road network for me to drive around in a CLK Black.
12. I got electrocuted on stage once. But I managed to keep playing on for the full set.
13. I have slipped and fell while dancing before. I busted my chin, and it started to bleed.
14. Jon and I kicked the arse of every single senior that we worked with in Fridays. The both of us could handle a Saturday night crowd all on our own.
15. I enjoy walking around at night, when the streets are empty and there are not many people around.
16. I have a great dislike for the "made for tv" culture.
17. I have never gotten bashed up for my birthday. That's 8 years clean sheet. But I've bashed most of my good friends up in those 8 years.
18. I got my Schecter on Valentines day 2004. I bought it for RM 3k back then, and according to Jon, it's now worth RM 10K.
19. I have a friend who was born one day before me, on the exact year, who is my neighbor, who has been my classmate in high school, and who thinks that my cukoo clock is a cukoo bird. Yee Leong?
20. I had a relationship that lasted for a week.
21. I enjoy traveling to different parts of the world and to experience different cultures.
22.One of my dreams is to work as a photographer and to document and share the world with others in ways most have never experienced.
23.I prefer wine and whiskey to beers.
24. One of my bands was named after an aircraft carrier, Nimitz, and being in that band were among the best moments in my life. I'll never forget the lineup. Chai, David, Jon and myself.
25.I prefer quiet nights out with a few good friends to parties. I'm more subdued in that sense.
So here are the 25 things. Jon helped me out with some of them ;)

Hmmm
After but before.
It's time to stop wasting. It's time to start using.
The numbers are piling up, but the dossier isn't.

Augustine
Girl: So where are you from?
Me: Umm.. I'm from Malaysia.
Girl: *Gasps* But you don't look like the Chinese people.
Me: *After a slight pause for contemplation* Err...Malaysia isn't a Chinese country?
I went to St. Augustine today. It's about an hour and 15 minutes north of Daytona. It was a really amazing trips. It is the oldest city in the United States, which was ruled by at least four different flags, and has been a target for pirates during the days. Going there was like walking into a time capsule because the buildings and the streets looked like the old days. In some parts, the stone streets we walked on were hundreds of years old, sunk and uneven from the wear and tear of time.
The best parts were definitely watching a demonstration of how soldiers in the past would assemble in formation and fire their muskets. The food was pretty good too. We had some Greek food, in a restaurant called Athena, and our Greek friend, George Angelidis, kept explaining the Greek culture to us throughout the trip, since St. Augustine has some Greek history to it.
Overall it was a good trip. I didn't take many pictures, but I'll try the post the ones I have when the time permits.
